Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Sambava & Vanilla Introduction
- Arrive at Sambava Airport (SVB), where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel.
- Explore the town of Sambava, the heart of the vanilla industry.
- Visit a local vanilla plantation to learn about the cultivation and processing of this precious spice.
- Enjoy a welcome dinner featuring local SAVA cuisine.
Day 2 - 5: Marojejy National Park Exploration
- Spend four full days exploring the pristine rainforest of Marojejy National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Trek through diverse ecosystems, encountering endemic lemurs (including the Silky Sifaka), birds, and reptiles.
- Experience the breathtaking beauty and biodiversity of this natural wonder.
- Enjoy camping within the park for an immersive experience (accommodation can be adjusted based on preference).
Day 6: Bemarivo River & Agricultural Plantations (Sambava)
- Embark on a boat trip along the Bemarivo River, discovering its scenic landscapes.
- Visit plantations cultivating vanilla, bananas, and cacao, learning about their growth and significance to the region.
- Return to Sambava for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Sacred Lake in Vohemar
- Travel to Vohemar and visit the Sacred Lake, a site of cultural and spiritual importance.
- Learn about the local traditions and legends associated with the lake.
- Enjoy an overnight stay in Vohemar.
Day 8: Daraina Special Reserve
- Journey to the Daraina Special Reserve, known for its significant population of the Golden-crowned Sifaka lemur.
- Embark on guided walks to observe these unique lemurs and, with luck, the elusive Aye-aye.
- Travel to Ambilobe for an overnight stay.
Day 9: Cocoa Plantation in Ambanja & Departure from Ankify
- Travel to Ambanja and visit a local cocoa plantation, learning about the cocoa production process.
- Continue your journey to Ankify, the gateway to Nosy Be.
- Transfer to your onward travel arrangements from Ankify (boat to Nosy Be or other transport).
